Greetings Barry County!
A lot of work has been happening behind the scenes at Caledonia Community Players for our winter show; “A Charlie Brown Christmas“. We are very excited that rehearsals are well underway and a talented cast will be hitting the stage on December 16 & 17th @ Caledonia High School South Black Box Theater! Staying loyal to the 1965 animated TV special that became (and is STILL famous) around the world, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” features the bright and colorful sets and prop pieces that kids like the Peanuts gang would have built themselves out of cardboard and other easily found materials. As such, they are fun to build!
This Saturday, November 12 from 10-2 we will be having a “WORK DAY” at Duncan Lake Middle School auditorium/stage. Enjoy building fun and unique smaller projects? Come be a kid and help us creatively make Lucy’s psychiatrist booth, snow drifts and more! Contact Walt Hast at walt.hast@gmail.com if you can drop in to participate!
MANY THANKS to the volunteers who are working behind the scenes, including to the Deems family who created this 6 foot tall bass! They flattened and put two large cardboard boxes together and cut out the instrument’s shape, reinforced the back with a 1 inch x 6 feet tall board, and painted it! The board on the back also serves as the bass “pin” so the actor can “spin” it around! We can’t wait to see Pigpen jamming out to the classic Vince Guaraldi jazz tunes this iconic show features.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are seeking a few more volunteers to help run the fun arts & craft tables in the lobby before the shows on 12/16 and 12/17 as well as backstage as deck crew. If you have a few hours to spare and want to help spread some holiday joy, this is the greatest group of people to do it with! Remember to get your family/friend headcount & purchase tickets to see Charlie Brown soon. A heartwarming, fun show with a great message, you’ll want to make it annual tradition. This is a popular show & just right for families and anyone young at heart!
